A man finds a wallet with $700. A few days later, he receives a message telling him that someone is looking for a rich man’s wallet, and the first one to recover it would get $50.
After counting the money, the wealthy man informs him, “I see you have already taken your reward,” when he finally locates the owner and delivers him the wallet.
What topic are you discussing? In reply, asks the unfortunate person. The affluent guy replies, “This wallet had $750 in it when I lost it.” Following several heated exchanges, the two men agree to take their disagreements to court.
The affluent man closes by saying, “Your Honor, I trust you, you trust me,” after the impoverished gentleman makes his case.
The judge answers, Well, of course. The affluent man smiles, while the poor one looks scared. The Judge then removes the wallet from the wealthy man’s hands and gives it to the homeless man who found it.
The rich guy yells, “What are you doing?” with fury. Judge’s response: You are an honest man, of course, and I’m sure your missing wallet contained $750, but this wallet must belong to someone else since the man who discovered it must be a crook and a liar; otherwise, he wouldn’t have returned it at all. Unless the finder steps forward to claim it, the money belongs to him. The affluent man says, “How about my money?” We’ll just have to bide our time till your $750 wallet is located.
