After being shared on Facebook by her mother, the image of a bride who appears to be sprinting on the road gained widespread attention. It’s a startling backstory, but it ends happily.
The bride, Sarah Ray, is a Tennessee, USA, paramedic. She was shaking with passion as she married Paul in front of the altar, relishing in the unique moment that would live in her memory forever. However, before that could happen, she got a call that would really make things unforgettable—not only for her, but for everyone on the planet. The ceremony was cut short for this reason.
Not far from the church, her father and grandma had been in a vehicle accident. As soon as the bride learned what had transpired, she fled the ceremony. Sarah, who was still dressed in her wedding gown, most likely said thanks to God for giving her the idea to swap out her high heels for ballet slippers only moments before. She took off for the scene.
She was relieved that her grandma and father were both okay and that the interrupted ceremony could go on.
In a later interview, she will claim that she fled the church and her own wedding in order to aid others in need as she is a paramedic and works on ambulances, and that this was her primary motivation—one she would never forget. Even in her marriage, she does so to preserve life.
Sarah, you are admirable! How many others would have followed in her footsteps?
