Even though Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are deeply in love right now, Stefani wasn’t always aware of Shelton’s existence.
She claims that the country singer only began spending time with her when he was appointed a coach for NBC’s singing competition “The Voice.”
In an interview with Andy Cohen on his SiriusXM “Radio Andy” show, Stefani, who is returning to the show this season as a coach, acknowledged that she had never heard of Cohen before the show. The speaker said, “I didn’t even know he was a human on this earth.
The two were lauded by Stefani for coming from such disparate artistic and personal backgrounds.
It’s ridiculous. I guess now it’s natural,” she continued. “I’ve accepted the fact that he’s a real redneck and all that,” said the speaker.
“I just like that we’re from different genres,” she concluded.
Stefani admitted that she wasn’t sure what to anticipate from their joint efforts. Together with Kelly Clarkson and John Legend, they are now coaches.
She said, “I felt it would be (more) this time because I feel like we’re so deeply in love and it’s been so long since I’ve been on the show and I didn’t sure how we would be just us and competing.
The former No Doubt frontwoman insists she won’t feel uncomfortable working or performing in front of the country artist, despite her past discomfort.
She remembered the song they had written together when they first met, “Go Ahead and Break My Heart,” which had become a 2016 hit. “I remember that we were going to perform it for the first time when he arrived. To be honest, we had hardly ever even spent time together. I think I sweated through every inch of my clothes trying to sing while he played the guitar.
She continued, “When we recorded this song, we didn’t even create it together. He sent me a verse through email, and I texted him the song’s verse in return. Undoubtedly, that was exciting. I guess excitement triumphs over fear.
Stefani called her boyfriend “simply so amazing”.
Blake is a real unicorn. She said he just seems to attract people wherever he goes. He is incredibly talented.
