The original author of the proverb “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned” was William Congreve, an English poet and playwright. He was absolutely correct. When Casey, a prior bride-to-be, found out the night before their wedding that her fiancé, “Alex,” wasn’t who she thought he was, she really stuck it to him. One of the scariest wedding tales anyone has ever heard is this one.
After six years of dating, Casey found out about her fiancé’s adultery the night before the wedding, and she had the evidence in the form of text messages. Casey was finishing up last-minute preparations for her wedding with her closest friends when her phone vibrated.
From an unknown number, she received many pictures of texts that included the words, “I wouldn’t marry him.” Are you going to?
Screenshots of conversations between “Alex” and another woman revealed highly inappropriate issues that no man in a committed relationship should be discussing.
Casey said to Whimn, “She was the opposite of me.” I am fair-haired and blonde, but this unnamed woman had black hair and olive complexion. The texts were written anywhere from a few days to several months ago. Simply put, my mind was unable to comprehend what was going on. The authenticity of these messages was without question. It felt right in my gut.
Because her wedding was the next day and her entire family and friends had flown to be there, Casey realized she couldn’t just call off the entire occasion. She knew, nevertheless, that she could never marry “Alex.” And then she came up with this amazing plan.
“I didn’t get any sleep at all, and as soon as daybreak came, I woke the girls and told them what I had decided: I was going to marry him as planned and ‘out’ him in front of our friends and family.”
The next day, as she was making her way down the aisle, “Alex” sensed something wasn’t quite right.
Fearing what she was about to do, Casey turned to the gathering as she approached the altar and declared, “There will be no wedding today.” It appears that “Alex” is not who I had assumed he was.
The whole room was in disbelief, not knowing what was going on. “Alex” reached for his wife in a desperate attempt to stop her, but it was unsuccessful.
Casey continued by reading out each and every text message after that.
Alex’s face lost color with every phrase. When I raised my tearful eyes to meet his, he was speechless. His best friend followed him as he strode from the chapel. His family was terrified as they watched,” Casey added.
Her goal was to attempt to salvage the entire catastrophe; she had no desire to spoil everyone’s day.
“Despite how awful everything is, I’m glad you’re all here because I love you all.” Today is not going to be a wedding reception; rather, it’s going to be a celebration of being honest, discovering real love, and listening to your heart even when it hurts.
All of her guests gave the embarrassed bride a brief, uncomfortable round of applause. In fact, a few visitors gave a cheer. Everyone, with the exception of the groom, his brother, and two of his buddies, was there at the celebration, according to one of her attendees.
“To our credit, it was one hell of a party, but it was definitely not the wedding day I had planned,” Casey continued.
How do you feel about the circumstances? If you had been in Casey’s position, would you have acted similarly?
