UPDATE: According to fresh information, Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell, Mama June’s eldest daughter, has lost her battle with cancer.
Five months after providing her most current cancer update, Mama June informed on Instagram that her 29-year-old daughter, Anna, is “no longer with us.”
She began the description of a photo of her family with, “With broken heart, we are announcing that @annamarie35 is no longer with us.” She passed away peacefully in my home at 11:12 PM yesterday evening. As soon as we have additional information, we will give it to you. Before dying in the arms of her loved ones, she bravely battled for 10 months. We will be giving our family our warmest regards and prayers at this difficult time. We love you all.
Anna’s younger sister Honey Boo Boo has also shared a message on Instagram:
“I wish I hadn’t had to write this post,” the writer said. Last night, we all showered Anna with affection and gave her the go-ahead to depart. Sadly, around 11 p.m., Anna passed away. We all understand as a family that even though Anna was in excruciating pain last night, she is now at peace. I have no idea what to say since my heart is so crushed. Observing my 29-year-old sister battle this horrible disease for the past year hasn’t been easy. Anna has been a fighter all her life.
All of this will come to pass in the next days, but in the meanwhile, would you kindly wrap your arms around her two infants and our family, Lord???? I’m so glad you decided to wait to pass away until I came home! I know you will be there to support me in heaven forever, even though I wish you could have witnessed my college graduation! We’ll all do our part to make sure your legacy lasts a lifetime. Furthermore, I promise that I would never forget to honor your birthdays as though you had never left! The sky seems a little different today. Anna, you will always be our beloved? Anna, you really got me with that one, but I know you’re in a better place now and the pain will never find its way back.
Mama June Shannon recently discussed her daughter Anna Cardwell’s progress in an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight, following the completion of four rounds of chemotherapy. Anna Cardwell is 28 years old. Cardwell announced in March that she had been diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal cancer.
In the interview, Mama June said that her daughter was “doing pretty good” and “handling it pretty good” now that the chemotherapy had ended. “A lot of people thought that it was gonna make her sick and stuff like that, [but] she’s able to bounce back pretty quick,” June continued, adding that the family is taking things day by day.
As for the future, Anna Cardwell is currently trying to decide if she wants to move forward with clinical trials or immunological treatment; it’s conceivable that she won’t move forward with either. Though they fully acknowledge that Anna’s sickness is incurable, Anna’s mother asserts that her daughter “wants to see how it’s going to go.”
Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, 17, Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon, 26, and Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird, 23, joined their mother, June Shannon. Lauryn and Alana agreed that their sister is doing “pretty good,” although Alana pointing out that chemotherapy “does wear her body down sometimes.”
“She can still drive herself, go to the grocery store, and pick up and drop off the kids,” said Lauryn. “She doesn’t have hair, she has no eyebrows, she doesn’t have any hair on her arms or anything like that,” the woman said. She also discussed how things are going for Anna’s two children.
The 10-year-old daughter of Anna, Kaitlyn, is aware of the diagnosis and knows that “Mommy is sick,” but she is still a bit too young to really realize the gravity of the situation. Mama June went on to explain that Kaitlyn hasn’t really left her mother’s side all that much since learning of the illness and that it’s likely that she is aware of how little time her mother has left.
