McFarr passed away on Monday at his Florida home, according to his family. In Jurassic World and Guardians of the Galaxy, he served as Chris Pratt’s stunt double.
The daredevil’s mother, Donna, broke the tragic news to TMZ, although the reason of his death has not yet been officially disclosed.
Her kid was “active and healthy,” and she described the news of his passing as “shocking and unexpected.”
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Pratt wrote, “Devastated to hear about the death of my friend and former stunt double Tony McFarr.”
“We collaborated on several films together. We spent endless hours on the set, smoked cigars, played golf, and drank whiskey.
He said, “He worked hard and was always a gentleman.” He will be missed. I offer prayers for his loved ones, particularly his daughter.
McFarr has spent the last 10 years or more starring in some of Hollywood’s biggest successes.
The single parent landed his first major acting roles in 2012 on Rock of Ages, Teen Wolf, and Homeland.
Following that, McFarr starred in Captain America: Civil War (2016), The Accountant (2016), Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 (2014), and Furious 7 (2015).
He and Pratt, with whom he had previously collaborated on Jurassic World (2015), grew close over time.
The stuntman collaborated with him once again on the sets of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, (2017), Passengers (2016), and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018).
In addition, McFarr has appeared in several TV series, such as Burn Notice, One Tree Hill, and MacGyver.
He has dedicated the last five years of his time to two Florida eateries, one of which was inspired by a poke bowl movie.
