With mixed feelings, Christina Applegate is looking forward to the forthcoming Screen Actors Guild Awards.
The upcoming SAG Awards, according to the actress from the film Dead to Me, will probably be her last as she continues to experience signs of the illness. She was diagnosed with MS in 2021.
It’s kind of a big deal since it’s probably going to be Applegate, 51,’s last awards show as an actor, she said in an interview with The Los Angeles Times that was published on Tuesday.
She continued, “I don’t have it in me to get up at five in the morning and work on a set for 12 to 14 hours.
For her portrayal of Jen Harding in the Netflix comedy, Applegate is nominated for an award for outstanding performance by a female actor in a comedy series. Six times in all, she has been nominated for a SAG award.
Although Applegate no longer plans to pursue acting, voiceover work is what she has in mind as her next step in her career, according to The LA Times. She claimed, “I’m working a s— ton of voice-overs to make some money so that my daughter is fed and we can stay at home.”
Applegate made her comments just two years after learning she had multiple sclerosis. She had to take a break from production to get therapy because she was filming the third and final season of Dead to Me at the time.
The actress praised the “amazing” cast, the show’s creator, and her co-stars in an interview with The Times, calling them “Jen and Judy united into a person, in the most perfect and lovely way possible.” She was bringing up their friendship with Judy Hale, who was portrayed by Linda Cardellini, in the movie.
I was a complete mess every day, but Applegate acknowledged that the majority of that mess would happen in her trailer by herself. However, when I would lose it on set and say, “I can’t, we have to take a break, I need a half-hour,” everyone would be so sympathetic that it was fine.
Additionally, Applegate discussed how challenging it was to watch the third season after it was made available on Netflix.
She said, “I don’t like to see myself struggle.” In addition, the drugs and inactivity caused me to put on 40 pounds, which made me physically and aesthetically unrecognizable. She observed alone, pausing occasionally when the discomfort grew overwhelming. When I finally managed to free myself from my ego, I was able to appreciate what a stunning piece of television that was. Any scene I had already seen or been a part of before gave me such a rush.
In a November interview with Variety, Applegate reminisced on the show’s filming, calling it “as hard as you would ever think it would be.”
Regarding her acting career, she remarked, “It’s about discovering what I’m capable of.” “I’ve only recently started working on this. Understanding this sickness and the causes of the symptoms’ manifestation requires time. I’m just getting started with all of this. At the same time that I’m attempting to comprehend it, I’m also lamenting the person I used to be. They won’t treat me like a princess and won’t be as courteous as my set if I say, “Look, I can only work five hours.”
The actress said she is looking for “a place that will permit me to [work] five hours if I’m not the star” and that taking the lead role in a movie may no longer be an option. She was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on November 14.
“I can’t complete the task I just begun. She continued, “Truly, it was very dreadful. She is currently focused on her daughter Sadie Grace LeNoble, 12, who she has with her husband Martyn LeNoble.
You know, I’m pretty sure this was it. Who knows, though; I’m certain I’ll grow to detest spending time in my room alone. She continued, “I want to create, produce, and make things. Because I have so many ideas, I simply need to put them into action.
