Despite being destitute, she never asked for money. She was pleading with others to read the message she was holding. After sixteen years, the message was eventually read. After then, everything was different. This is what it says on paper.
An eighty-year-old woman has an amazing story to share with the world, but it does not have a happy ending.
For sixteen years, Wanda Ritter has not slept in her own bed at home. She insisted every day that “the government owed her $100,000 dollars,” even though everyone believed she was crazy. No one noticed that she was carrying a bag full of paperwork and overdue checks. Everyone thought she was just another crazy person.
Wanda was a locksmith and a mother of four kids. She was demanding in the streets of Washington, DC, claiming she was due a substantial amount of money by the Social Security Administration.
They claimed, “I was crazy to get rid of the luggage.” “I told myself that people would think I was crazy if I did something stupid.” She continued explaning.
But when 56-year-old social worker Julie Turner heard her tale and took an interest in her situation, everything changed. Looking at the documents, she shook her head in disbelief.
“She required financial assistance rather than mental health assistance.” Turner stated that she had a $100,000 debt to the government.
But how did the woman understand the problem?
Wanda started getting checks every month for $300 to $900. The woman returned the cheques because she thought there was a problem, but Ritter verified the discrepancy by calling Social Security Services.
“Who would have believed me if I had gathered them and said there had been an error?” Ritter told local media that if she has the issue under control, she thinks she can solve it.
Julie Turner was a miracle worker who helped Ritter get a $500 apartment.
After the story went viral, Ritter received her first $1,644 Social Security check a week later.
