The 96th Academy Awards, which took place this past Sunday at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, was an evening full with anticipated happenings.
Among the most iconic were Al Pacino’s decision to declare the winner of the Best Film category without first viewing the nominations, and John Cena’s naked walk across the stage to present the Best Costume Design award.
Talk points abound on the red carpet as well, not the least of which was the multitude of eye-catching costumes on exhibit. The evening was apparently stolen by actress Kelly Ripa and her spouse Mark Consuelos, with the former causing quite a stir on social media.
Celebrities frequently make headlines for the outfits they choose to wear to award ceremonies.
However, criticizing and debating costumes in real time has perhaps grown more popular than it was in the past because to social media, which allows real-time red carpet photos to be shared quickly with a worldwide audience.
That’s why it seems sense to presume that anyone who is fortunate enough to attend an Oscar-worthy event would always be the focus of intense attention.
This year, Kelly Ripa was among the celebrities whose outfit selections were closely examined on the internet. Wearing an exquisite black gown, she shared a photo of herself and her father storming the red carpet on Instagram.
Her throng of adoring fans welcomed it there with an outpouring of thanks.
“You two look fantastic. However, that clothing is gorgeous,” someone said.
Gorgeous dress. Lovely pair,” said a second person.
A third person said, “Kelly, your hair, the dress—you look gorgeous.”
Naturally, there were some awkward moments. Ripa’s choice to wear the garment was questioned by several.
One critic remarked, “I love you Kelly, but not this dress.”
“Unlike Mark not to have a perfectly tailored suit or tux on,” another person said. Usually, his attire is immaculate.
“Kelly, put on some bike shorts,” a third person commented. With the transparent dress on, you are lowering yourself. You’re not worthy of it!
A fourth said, “She doesn’t even look like the same person anymore.”
