After 30 years of marriage, Violeta unexpectedly filed for divorce, just as she was looking forward to having fun in her second youth. Only optimism helped her regain her happiness.

“For a while, I’ve been thinking about writing to you. I was embarrassed and lacked the courage to quit, but I did so later.
My marriage was happy.

My hubby was well behaved and attentive. As our children finished their education and we watched them get married, we wanted to recapture the passion of youth. We planned to build a house in the mountains and retire there in our senior years.

When we were watching television two years ago, my husband said he wanted to talk to me.

I had no clue he would inform me of such terrible news. He calmly said that he loved me. He kindly explained to me that she is a student, that they have been dating for some time, and that he wants to live with her.

Thankfully, I felt at ease in the armchair. I didn’t even have the courage to face him, ask him questions, or demand answers from him. I could only shudder and beg, “Okay, but what about me?” between my cries.

The very next day, he packed his belongings and went. Even though I was angry, I was unable to criticize the female who was the center of his attention. I simply wished I had witnessed his development and hadn’t allowed him to depart. I received a divorce summons shortly after that. I went through a lot of pain. The kids accused me of letting him off too lightly. But I didn’t think it was worth fighting for him.

I knew he would eventually kick himself for the choice. I started a new life as well. I didn’t want to find anybody else but tranquility to fill the hole in my spirit. I traveled, made new friends, and became closer to the more seasoned ones. While he was gone, I was in great shape.

After a long time when no one knew anything about him, her husband at last came home in peace. I was sorry for the guy. He seemed unattractive and was sick. He wanted us to patch things up. I wasn’t unhappy till after that because of how he treated me like a “bad weather cloak” and how much suffering he had me go through. With a grin on his face and the same poise he shown while telling me he was in love, I politely requested that he leave my home. I told him the girl he loved so much and for whom he had to suddenly leave his family was residing just next to him.

He’s single, doesn’t live with her anymore, and is still trying to patch things up with the kids.

Even so, I would never get married since I take care of my life and love every moment I get to spend with my grandkids. Because life is worth living beautifully, responsibly, and quietly—even at 55.
