The public has now heard Matthew Perry’s somber final remarks to his assistant before he overdosed on ketamine.
On October 28, 2017, Perry was discovered unconscious in the hot tub at his Los Angeles residence. His autopsy revealed that he had drowned after becoming seriously agitated after taking ketamine.
According to court records obtained by NBC News, the 54-year-old “Friends” star requested that his live-in helper Kenneth Iwamasa “shoot him up with a big one,” suggesting that he had previously used ketamine.
This is believed to have been his final dose, delivered just before his death was discovered.
According to court documents, on October 28, at around 8:30 a.m., Perry asked his aide to give him his first injection of the day.
Iwamasa gave him another dose of the drug in around four hours as he was watching a movie in his opulent LA residence, according to PageSix.
The celebrity then instructed his helper to “set up his jacuzzi” before asking him to take the day’s third picture.
Iswama gave Perry what was believed to be his final dose before leaving the estate to run some errands for his master. His employer was deceased when he returned.
This comes after Iwamasa and five other individuals were accused of drug overuse leading to the well-known star’s death on Thursday.
Along with Perry’s doctors, Salvador Plasencia and Mark Chavez, the federal indictment also named drug dealer Jasveen Sangha and broker Mark Fleming.
Before Perry’s fatal overdose, Iswama had been providing him with ketamine for almost a month, as he acknowledged in a plea agreement.
Doctors utilize the dissociative medication ketamine to numb patients during grueling medical procedures.
Perry began receiving ketamine infusion therapy in the fall of 2023 as a means of treating his anxiety and despair.
Anne Milgram, the chief of the Drug Enforcement Administration, claimed on Thursday that Perry developed a ketamine addiction during this period.
Additionally, they said that the suspects “took advantage of Perry’s addiction to get rich,” citing the $12 vial of ketamine that doctors Mark Chavez and Salvador Plasencia charged $2,000 for.
In addition, throughout September and October of 2023, Plasencia, Chavez, and Sangha delivered Perry over 70 vials of ketamine.
The US attorney for California’s Central District, Martin Estrada, declared on Thursday that “the people charged in this case knew they were doing wrong.”
“They did it even though they knew it would put Mr. Perry in grave danger.”
“These defendants ultimately cared more about making money off of Mr. Perry than they did about his welfare.”
Nearly a year has passed since Perry’s overdose death on ketamine.
The live-in assistant of the guy who portrayed Ross in “Friends” discovered the actor face down floating in the hot tub of his Palisades home pool. The autopsy revealed this.
The final hours of Perry’s life, including his pickleball match at 11 a.m., were covered in great detail in the autopsy report.
The actor’s live-in aide stated that they last saw him on October 28, 2023, at 1:37 p.m.
When they returned to Perry’s house, the assistant saw him floating face-down in his hot tub.
Before phoning the police, the assistant dove in immediately and lifted Perry’s head out of the water.
Perry was taken out of the water and declared dead by the paramedics when they arrived.
Perry’s fatal medication, ketamine, was not prescribed by a doctor, and Los Angeles police discovered this information when they launched a criminal investigation into his murder.
The medical examiner’s report states that Perry’s body contained the same quantity of ketamine as a patient undergoing general anesthesia.
It was ultimately determined that he had died in an accident because he drowned, his heart and lungs were overstimulated, and the ketamine hindered his respiration.
The entertainment industry was taken aback by the news, and his Friends co-stars publicly mourned his passing.
Following several weeks of quiet, every cast member of Friends shared a poignant farewell to Perry on their personal social media platforms.
“It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye,” said Perry’s best friend, Matt LeBlanc, who portrayed Joey Tribbiani on Friends.
“Some of my favorite moments in my life were the ones we shared.” I’m honored to have called you a friend and to have shared the stage with you.
“Every time I think of you, you make me smile, and I will always remember you.” Never. At last, my brother, you are free. Open your wings and take to the sky. Many thanks.
