Jodie Foster grew up in front of her audience, but her personal life has always been kept a mystery from the general world.
When she was still a small child, she started her lengthy and prosperous career in film, and over the years, she was cast in a number of iconic parts. Her big break came when she was only 12 years old and played a young prostitute in Martin Scorsese’s 1976 movie Taxi Driver.
Foster has two Academy Awards and three Golden Globes to his name. At the 70th Golden Globe Awards in 2013, she received the honorary Cecil B. DeMille Award for her “great contributions to the world of entertainment.”
In addition to being a well-known filmmaker, the actress from Silence of the Lambs is a mother to two kids.
Foster’s sexual orientation has been the subject of several rumors over the years, and people have frequently questioned the father of her sons.
In fact, it took Foster 35 years from the time she was asked about her preference for men in an interview when she was 17 years old until she finally revealed that she was attracted to women. Foster took a very long time to come clean about who she really was.
During the interview, Foster was forced to respond to the question, “What kind of fellas do you like?” She kept her cool, but people started to wonder if she was even interested in men based on her facial expressions.
Really, she was scared for her future in the workforce. She believed that her 2013 award acceptance speech was the perfect time to come out because she had been waiting for the right occasion. Foster said as she took the platform, “I hope you’re not sad that there won’t be a big coming-out speech today, because I already did my coming out about a thousand years ago back in the Stone Age.
She explained, “I think I just feel a sudden need to say something that I’ve never really been able to air in public. Because I’m here being all confessional.
Foster admitted that she dated producer Sidney Bernard from 1993 until 2008, during which time she had both of her children, Kit and Charlie.
Everyone in the audience wept while listening to her talk about her personal life.
Photographer Alexandra Hedison, who had previously been an actor but didn’t think it was the right career for her, wed Foster in 2014 after a year of dating.
Hedison once dated Ellen DeGeneres. They were a couple from 2000 to 2004; they even spoke about adopting a child together before divorcing.
Foster and Hedison don’t regularly make public appearances together. The two have actually very sometimes had a red carpet appearance; their most recent being at the Cannes Film Festival in 2021.
When Foster won a Golden Globe for her performance in The Mauritanian, Hedison was by her side as she gave her acceptance speech via video from home. “Alex, I adore my wife, thank you!” she exclaimed while kissing her spouse.
We are ecstatic that Jodie Foster is finally leading an honest life.
