After a lengthy hiatus, fans are ecstatic that Jon Stewart is returning to anchor The Daily Show. Although there have been many jokes, the host had a really moving moment in last night’s show.
When Stewart announced to everyone that Dipper, his cherished three-legged rescue dog, had passed away, he sobbed.
At the conclusion of Monday’s Daily Show, Stewart shared a personal tale with the audience instead of parodying politics like he usually does. Reminiscent of his two children at twelve or thirteen, he wanted to collect money for New York City’s Animal Haven, a no-kill animal sanctuary.
One of the shelter’s canines, a one-year-old brindle pit bull puppy who had lost his right leg after being struck by a car in Brooklyn, was shown by the volunteers. The family put up a cupcake kiosk outside the shelter.
“I thought I’d get further,” Stewart teased the assembly, breaking down in tears as he recalled his first encounter with his cherished dog. From behind his desk, he produced a tissue box.
He went on to say that that day, he and his family brought the dog home and gave him the name Dipper. “He was the best of all the good boys,” according to Smith.
Dipper was a part of the “OG Daily Show dog crew,” and he would take the pup to work with him every day. Over the years, he became a regular on Stewart’s Daily Show and had the opportunity to interact with many of the well-known guests.
Stewart remarked, “Dipper would wait for me to finish.” “And he came across rock stars, authors, kings, and presidents.”
“And he did—he scared Malala Yousafzai, something the Taliban couldn’t do,” laughed Stewart. Then he played a clip of Dipper frightening the Nobel Peace Prize laureate backstage during the production.
A powerful emotion Stewart went on to say that Dipper passed away on Sunday, surrounded by his loved ones. He was prepared. “He was tired, but I wasn’t,” Smith remarks.
“My wish for you is that one day you find that dog,” he says to the gathering. “That canine. He’s the finest, too.
He concluded the program with a video of Dipper having a blast playing in the snow during the “Moment of Zen.”
From 1999 to 2015, Stewart, 61, hosted The Daily Show. He established the late-night Comedy Central program as a political comedy institution and won 22 Primetime Emmy Awards. This month, he returned to the program as executive producer and Monday night host. He’s going to be here till the election.
Dipper, Stewart’s rescue dog, is not the only animal in his affection. Additionally, he and his wife Tracey transformed their 45-acre property into a secure haven for mistreated animals.
It’s never easy to say goodbye to a dog you love, and Jon Stewart and his family are in our thoughts at this difficult time. I appreciate you taking in Dipper and providing him with a wonderful home throughout the years ❤🏏.
