Michelle Obama garnered attention on social media for her outfit choice when she went on a beach excursion in Miami with her daughter Malia.
Images of the sixty-year-old former First Lady strolling with Malia on Miami Beach brought attention to her bikini tops.
According to the Daily Mail, the mother and daughter were spotted with friends—including Valerie Jarrett, a former senior advisor to the Obama administration—dinning at a chic Miami steakhouse following their beach outing, all while being escorted by Secret Service agents.
Michelle looked stunning in the leaked photos, dressed in a flowy shirt and high-waisted denim cutoff shorts with side holes. She held her shoes in her palm as she strolled barefoot on the sand, finishing her beach appearance with sunglasses, a bandana, and hoops earrings.
Michelle Obama’s beach attire sparked criticism on social media, with some people finding issue with her choice of attire. Her outfit was described as “totally inappropriate for her age and who she is” by one critic.
“Why holes on the white cutoffs?” said one person in disapproval of the torn shorts.Seems a little like trailer trash. The white shorts are torn! It’s difficult to think she was ever a First Lady. I believe I’m taking too much inspiration from Beyoncé.
Another person penned: “Two items…She couldn’t even be bothered to button her shorts, and I find it shocking that people are outraged by the color of her outfit. The family as a whole lacks class. Thankfully, they no longer speak for us.
Meanwhile, a large number of individuals supported Michelle’s attire decision by writing: “Former First Lady on vacation.” What now? She had enough time in the spotlight. Now give her some space. Though never a fan, I always like her style. She certainly looks fantastic. And her children do too. Politics should not involve the family. Michelle doesn’t seem to require our blessing. She is an exquisite, self-assured woman.
