Most mothers would concur that labor and delivery may be frightening, and your main goal is to deliver a healthy baby who is kicking and crying.
However, when her newborn son was born with health problems that required him to be on a ventilator, one mother had to deal with the unimaginable.
In addition to sharing a picture of her adorable newborn grandchild with her daughter Chelsea, Lisa Hough also talked about the extremely difficult choice her daughter had to make.
The grandmother of two and mother of three stated that her grandson Karson had several health issues at birth.
On her Facebook page, Nana Lisa said, “The only way to describe what has happened is that this beautiful baby boy has suffered two very rare traumatic conditions that are completely unrelated to one another.”
She continued by saying that her newborn grandson had been diagnosed with non-ketotic hyperglycinemia (NKH), a rare inherited metabolic disease, in addition to having experienced a “hemorrhage in the left temporal lobe.”
“His case is presented as severe, meaning that at best throughout his lifetime, he would be severely neurologically impaired, functioning at a 2-3 month old level,” Lisa wrote.
After gathering all the information from the nearby medical professionals, his mother took the extremely difficult choice to remove him from life support.
Lisa wrote about the painful time they had to bid their adorable child go.
Even though we weren’t prepared to part ways with Karson, we had accepted what would inevitably happen. After the ventilator and intensive care were turned off, we were given 10 minutes and warned that he would not be able to breathe on his own and that his heart would likely die within that time.
However, Lisa claimed that “God had other plans” and that she and her daughter saw a miracle.
After the ventilator was turned off and his heart rate and oxygen levels stabilized, he began breathing on his own right away. Five hours later, we are still holding this miraculous baby who doctors were warned would never breathe, swallow, have a gag reflex, or even live. He’s breathing on his own.
He’s taking a swallow. He’s making it through. He has even opened his eyes a little on a few occasions today.
She added that his physicians could not explain what had happened, stating that there is no scientific or medical evidence to back the young fighter’s survival and that the only theory they could think of was a miracle.
We witnessed a miracle today! Even though we weren’t prepared to part ways with Karson, we had accepted the
“I don’t know why I felt like we deserved a miracle so little at first.and although I’m not sure how long we’ll have him, it’s now. And we’ll take it immediately,” wrote Lisa.
She and her family finally received the happy news that their little bundle of joy would be returning home that week on March 1.
I am brought to my knees every day, and just when I believe God is finished, he reminds me that he isn’t.For giving Karson his, I cannot express how grateful I am, and I will give Him honor for as long as I breathe,” stated Lisa.
With over 30,000 replies to the article breaking the amazing news that Karson survived and is thriving, commentators were overwhelmingly supportive of the trip from the beginning.
Now that their miraculous baby is at home, we wish this lovely family nothing but the best in health and happiness.
