Professors of aeronautical engineering received an invitation to take a complimentary flight on a recently released new aircraft.

“We appreciate your confidence in taking the first flight on this new aircraft,” a voice over the intercom remarked as the door closed and the jet prepared to take off. Over the past year, every single one of your pupils has created and built it.

With the exception of one, who stayed coolly seated and grinned, all of the academics started to undo their seatbelts and go for the plane’s exit.

Knowing that some of his recent students had built the plane, one of the professors in line to get off the aircraft questioned him about why he wasn’t getting off.

Professor: “Because they are our students,” he answered.

“So you are sure that you taught your students well enough to build this?” a nearby professor questioned.

With a smirk, the seated professor remarked, “No, I’m not sure, but I AM certain that it won’t fly.”
