Frontotemporal dementia, or FTD for short, affects Bruce Willis. This has been confirmed by the star’s family.
The 67-year-old star’s family said in a statement released on Thursday that while the news “is heartbreaking, it is a comfort to finally have a definite diagnosis.”
The illness currently has no known cure, but we hope that will change in the future. “As Bruce’s condition worsens, we hope that any media attention may be focused on raising awareness of this disease, which deserves much more education and research,” the statement stated.
Willis’ ex-wife Demi Moore, wife Emma Heming Willis, daughters, and family first made this information public in 2022. At the time, it was made known that Willis would be taking a vacation from acting because of a malady that was impairing his ability to think clearly.
The most current statement from Bruce’s family was that he “always believed in using his voice in the world to help others, and to raise awareness about important topics both publicly and privately.” In the statement, it is said, “We know in our hearts that if he could today, he would want to respond by bringing global attention and a sense of connection with those who are also dealing with this debilitating condition and how it impacts so many people and their families.”
The frontal and temporal lobes of the brain are primarily harmed by frontotemporal dementia, according to the Mayo Clinic. These brain regions are typically linked to behaviour, behavior, and language.
Willis’ most recent performance as an actor and the third film in the thrilling “Detective Knight” series, “Detective Knight: Independence,” both came out in January 2023. A month later, the action film “Assassin” will also be released.
Heming and Willis Mabel and Evelyn are the two daughters of Willis. Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah’s fathers are both him and Moore.
Rumer Willis and Derek Richard Thomas, who are expecting, are first-time parents.
Bruce’s continual cheerfulness has inspired everyone he knows to pursue happiness. The rest of the statement said, “To see that sense of concern returned to him and to all of us has meant the world.” “The love you have all shown for our devoted husband, father, and friend during this trying time has greatly touched us. With your continuing kindness, tolerance, and respect, Bruce will be able to lead the fullest life possible.
