Some tips from renowned perfumers on how to prolong the duration of the fragrance on your skin

It is worthwhile to use a high-quality scent in a way that will allow us to enjoy it for as long as feasible. The greatest essences for preserving aroma are revealed by a perfumer, along with tips on how to apply perfume. It’s challenging to locate a decent scent that we like and looks well on us. However, once we’ve located it, it’s crucial to know how to maintain it and, more importantly, how to use it to extend its usefulness throughout the day.

Spraying it behind the ears or on the wrists, as most people do, is insufficient. The skilled team behind Tom Ford scents included perfumer Christine Luby, who shared some exclusive information with Into The Gloss magazine.

“First, on dry, dehydrated skin, scent doesn’t stay very long.

Because of this, persons with oilier skin don’t require as frequent perfume application as those with dry skin. You should thus use a body lotion without aroma before applying perfume.

To make perfume linger longer, you may also rub a little petroleum jelly on your wrist before applying it, according to Christine Luby.

Skin does not maintain perfume’s aroma as well as hair does. It’s ideal to apply perfume right away after taking a shower and before dressing.

Because the skin is hydrated and the pores have been opened by the steam, the scent will set much better and maybe stay all day. The perfumer also notes that, contrary to popular belief, hair really does a better job of preserving perfume’s aroma than skin. The perfumer reassure those concerned that the fragrance would harm their hair that they have nothing to be concerned about because the fragrance includes much too little alcohol. Allow perfume to rest on your hair after spraying it into the air.

Additionally, some scents are more durable than others, therefore it’s better to choose acceptable scents from the woody spectrum as they are the most durable. Citrus-based scents leave behind a relatively fleeting aroma.

It is not a good idea to leave your favorite scents in the bathroom.

The product’s properties will be impacted much more quickly by heat, light, and humidity, and the aroma will significantly diminish.

It is far preferable to keep them in a cold, dry location. Christine Luby, a specialist, advises storing them beneath the bed, in a box, potentially in the container you purchased them in, or in a bedroom cabinet.

One more crucial point: the quantity of essential oils in a scent affects how long it lasts, so go with the finest you can buy. So, eau de parfum, which is also the most costly, has roughly 15% essential oil, eau de toilette has up to 8%, and eau de cologne only has 5%.
