This month, a terrifying video showing Robert Irwin, then 18 years old, coming perilously near to being devoured by Casper, a saltwater crocodile, surfaced.

Around meal time, the big animal charged the teenager at Australia Zoo, prompting him to run for his life.

Terri Irwin, who lost her husband Steve in 2006 at the age of 44 after he was stabbed in the chest by a short-tail stingray, reportedly reacted in horror.

The late Crocodile Hunter’s wife “almost had a heart attack,” according to accounts, when she understood how dangerously close Robert came to a horrible end.

According to the source, the 57-year-old matriarch of the Irwin family is reliving the grief of Steve’s tragic passing.

Terri worries that her adolescent son, like his father, works with hazardous animals, and she wishes the two “weren’t quite so alike sometimes.”

A crocodile recently sprang at 18-year-old Robert at the Australia Zoo, abandoning its meal in favor of assaulting him.

In the distressing footage, Casper, a rare “leucistic” saltwater eel, charges towards the teenager, and Robert can be heard pleading with his colleagues zookeepers to “bail.”

Robert was curious as to whether Casper felt confident enough in his new environment to take part in the shows put on by the famed Queensland zoo.

Robert offered the 350 kg, 3.7 m beast some food, but it ignored him and lunged at the adolescent with its jaws open.

He had to hurry and shouted “Bail, bail, bail!” to get away from the snake that was coming at him.

The thrilling action was witnessed from above as he just avoided the croc’s teeth.

The sequence was taken from the season finale of Crikey! on American television. The Irwins appear in the photo that Robert posted on social media.

Casper is a leucistic saltwater crocodile, which means that compared to other crocodiles, he has far less black skin pigment, giving him a whiter look.

His state suggests that “he would’ve been predated on at a young age in the wild,” claims Australia Zoo.

The authors also describe Casper as “one of the most aggressive crocodiles we have ever seen”.

But in the zoo, he has been partnered with Wendy, a female saltwater crocodile who also suffers from the same condition.

Because he has substantially less black skin pigment than other crocodiles and hence looks lighter in color, Casper (the leucistic saltwater crocodile in the image) is an uncommon species.
