The Chiefs’ head coach Andy Reid reportedly stayed to console a terrified teenager following the incident, according to The Star.
According to news reports, when the shooting began, Gabe Wallace and his companion Hank Hunter were outside Union Station. High school sophomores Gabe and Hank became separated during the confusion, but they soon reunited and expressed their love for one another.
Blood was all over Gabe’s forehead from when he fell while attempting to scale a fence to escape harm.
“We were right up on the front of the fences, far left side, like right above the barricade,” Hank stated to the Star. He was discussing how frightening that was. “.. We heard murmurs and gunfire. Everyone got down on their knees. “And I leaped over the fences with my friend Gabe.”
Gabe heard a security officer shout at him after hearing the “boom, boom, like real quick.” “They need to get over that fence immediately,” the guard commanded. “Someone is shooting.”
Another security guard took him into Union Station, where Andy Reid and other people were consoling him, after his “face nailed the concrete.”
“Andy Reid was trying to make me feel better, which was nice,” Gabe said to The Star. “.. Putting his arms around me, he said, “Are you okay, man?” Are things going well for you? Kindly inhale deeply. He was incredibly kind and all that.
Donna Kelce returned to Union Station as well, following the team’s swift evacuation. “Everyone on the team got us out of there really quickly,” she said to The Star.
