John Beasley, a well-known actor who had notable roles in The Soul Man and Everwood, regrettably passed away at the age of 79.
Tuesday brought news that John had liver problems and had been sent to the Omaha, Nebraska, hospital where he was born.
The state of his health “unexpectedly deteriorated.” His son, Mike Beasley, shared his father’s passing on Facebook with a beautiful photo and an emotional letter.
Mike offered a touching homage to his father. Even while you are aware that this is the case, he added, “it still isn’t any easier.” “Today, I lost my dearest buddy. They advise against meeting your heroes since they typically aren’t who you expect them to be. Such a mistake. My father was a hero in my eyes. I’m appreciative of everything. I love you more.
John originally became interested in theater when he was a young child, which sparked his love in performance. His first job was very different; according to IMDb, he worked as a train clerk for the Union Pacific railroad for seven years. He admitted, though, that he held desperately to the illusion that his aspirations would come true.
He went on to say, “I knew those things would come, even when I was in college,” and that he didn’t think a college education was necessary to accomplish his goals.
With 1989’s Rapid Fire, which served as his debut performance credit, John’s acting career officially got underway. But his career really took off when he was given a recurring part in the Oprah Winfrey-hosted series Brewster Place.
John’s skills were showcased in well-known movies including The Mighty Ducks from 1992, Crazy in Alabama from 1997, and The General’s Daughter from 1999.
As the spouse of Edna Harper’s character, Irv Harper, in the highly acclaimed television series Everwood (2002–2006), John is best known.
John worked with Cedric the Entertainer to fascinate viewers in the 2012 television series The Soul Man, in which he portrayed Barton Ballentine, the father of Cedric’s character. This was John’s first major acting role since Everwood.
John continued to be involved with the theater even as he grew older. In October, he participated in the musical adaptation of The Notebook at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater.
John was always appreciative of his job. He earlier told American Theatre that being a professional artist is the ultimate calling and that he enjoys wherever it takes him. Even if I never made it to Broadway, I would still consider my career to be very successful.
