The reason of death for veteran Chris Pratt double Tony McFarr, a Hollywood stuntman, has been released.
TMZ reports that Tony passed away on Wednesday from a cardiac condition that was most likely brought on by excessive drinking.
The news organization made use of official documents from Florida’s Orange County Medical Examiner’s office.
According to the records, the medical examiner determined that Tony’s erratic heartbeat—which indicated an issue with his heart valves—was what ultimately led to his death.
The coroner reported that the stuntman passed away in May of this year from acute alcohol poisoning and chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD).
COPD is the term for a collection of lung conditions that impede breathing.
Tony’s autopsy revealed that he had a history of heavy alcohol use.
Chris collaborated with the well-known stuntman on several films, including Jurassic World and its follow-up, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
On May 16, 2024, Tony’s mother Donna informed TMZ that her son had passed away at the age of 47. “Unexpected and sudden,” she said.
According to her, Tony passed away in his Orlando, Florida, home on May 13, 2024. Nobody knew how he passed away at the time.
Chris, 45, posted a heartfelt message on Instagram following Tony’s passing, stating, “devastated to hear about the loss of my friend and former stunt double.”
Tony was referred to by Chris as “an absolute stud” and “a gentleman and professional,” recalling some of his greatest moments spent with him over the years.
I collaborated with you on several films. “We spent endless hours on the set, smoking cigars, drinking whiskey, and playing golf.”
“I will always remember how tough he was.”
Chris discussed Tony’s dedication to the Guardians sequel filming and how “he took a nasty shot to the head…and got several staples in his head.”
“He came right back to work ready to go again,” the actor continued. “He will be missed. I will be praying for his family, friends, and most importantly, his daughter.
Tony got to know Chris during the 2015 Jurassic World filming. They forged a prosperous commercial partnership that lasted for many years and quickly became friends.
Tony performed his first stunt on a Bones episode in 2011, a police procedural drama.
Along with this, he has contributed to popular TV series and films including Teen Wolf, Homeland, The Accountant, and Captain America: Civil War.
Eight years ago, while filming Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Chris wrote on Instagram about his experience working with Tony.
In 2016, Chris shared a photo of Tony McFarr and himself on social media, writing, “This is my stuntman Tony McFarr, who is also Tommy Harper’s stunt coordinator and our first AD Lars Winther.”
Then he said, “Collaborated with Tony on Jurassic World.” “I adore you, my companion! No adjustments are required.
According to TMZ, Tony will be missed by his parents, sister, and daughter.
