Trump announced Dobbs’ passing on Thursday, just hours before he was scheduled to deliver his acceptance speech on the last night of the Republican National Convention.
Trump said, “The Great Lou Dobbs has just passed away,” on Truth Social.
“A friend and an incredible artist, journalist, and reporter.” Compared to most others, he knew more about the world and what was “happening.”
“Lou was unique and cherished his nation.” We send our deepest condolences to his beloved wife Debi’s family on her passing. He will be sorely missed.
The reason of death was not immediately disclosed.
Dobbs covered police and fire cases as a reporter for the Arizona radio station KBLU before to joining the staffs of Fox News and CNN.
He made the move to television around the middle of the 1970s, joining Seattle’s King-TV, an NBC station.
When Ted Turner founded CNN in 1980, Dobbs was among the first reporters to work there.
He began as the host of Moneyline, the business news program, and the chief economics correspondent for the program.
Dobbs disseminated the contentious theory that Barack Obama, the then-candidate for president, was not a native of the United States while he was employed at CNN.
Dobbs left CNN in 2009 due to strained relations with the network’s executives as a result of his coverage and contentious articles about illegal immigrants.
He began hosting Lou Dobbs Tonight, a late-night program, when he joined Fox Business at the close of 2010.
However, his tenure at Fox came to an end in 2021 when the network canceled his program.
Fox News Media expressed their condolences for Dobbs’ family’s loss to The U.S. Sun.
