In March, the two individuals disappeared while kayaking. Last Saturday, their remains were discovered in a lake in Arkansas.
Almost a month after the two men disappeared during a kayaking trip, the remains of musician Chuck Morris and his son Charley were found over the weekend in Arkansas.
After a 24-day search, the Benton County Sheriff’s Office announced on Facebook on Sunday that the bodies of Morris, 47, and Charley, 20, were discovered near Lost Bridge Village at Beaver Lake.
The announcement mentioned that Sheriff [Shawn] Holloway expressed gratitude towards all the individuals who volunteered their time and energy to assist in providing closure to the family and locating the two missing men. We would also like to express our gratitude to the families of Chuck and Charley.
The Morris family mentioned on their GoFundMe page that Charley’s demise was ruled to be a drowning. The reason for the senior Morris’s death is still unknown.
Morris was a drummer for the electronic band Lotus, which is located in Denver, while Charley went to Ohio Wesleyan University. The two had disappeared on March 16 while visiting Beaver Lake with family for spring break. No one had seen them since.
Lotus stated on social media that the search had transitioned to a recovery attempt five days after the two men disappeared.
The band said, “Currently, the search for Chuck and Charley has transitioned to a recovery.” We were all hoping for a miracle. “While we are deeply saddened, we intend to pay tribute to Chuck and Charley, remember them, and acknowledge their importance to numerous individuals. We are grateful to all those who have shared nice words, stories, and provided both financial and emotional support.
On April 21 and 22, Lotus plans to recognize Morris and his child with two performances at Denver’s Fillmore Auditorium. The family will also gain from planned shows in Port Chester, New York, and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Lotus, a band that combines elements of jam and electronic music, was formed in 1998 at Goshen College in Indiana. Morris became a member of the group around three years after its formation. Lotus has released a combined number of 13 studio albums and live recordings during the past 25 years. It put out “Bloom & Recede,” its latest album, last year.
