At a resort in Mexico, a 23-year-old Canadian lady was discovered dead. She had gone there to celebrate her birthday with her ice hockey player lover. In relation to the death, the boyfriend is in custody.
Kiara Agnew’s corpse was discovered on Friday at the Grand Sunset Princess Resort in Playa del Carmen, on Mexico’s “gold coast” in the Caribbean, south of Cancun. The day before, she had come with 26-year-old Ryan Friesen.
According to the Solidaridad Secretariat of Public Security, “a lifeless woman with possible signs of violence was found in a hotel in the Xcalacoco neighborhood.” They have a man in custody.
An official government body, Global Affairs Canada, verified that Friesen was being detained by Mexican authorities.
“Officials are giving consular help to the families and are in touch with local authorities,” Global Affairs official Charlotte MacLeod told the Star. “No additional information could be disclosed due to privacy concerns,” she added.
On March 11, my niece would have turned 24 years old. The family, according to her New Brunswick-based aunt, is still awaiting the autopsy’s findings.
She had been thinking about this vacation for a while. That is absurd. Levesque told the Star, “This is what we’re interested in learning.”She exuded beauty both within and outside. She ought to have seized the opportunity to fully experience life.
Levesque stated that they had spoken with Agnew’s family and expressed their sorrow, but the news organization has not been able to contact Friesen’s family.
“I understand they’re also shocked and in pain.” She told the Star, “Like everyone else, they want to know what happened.”
According to Levesque, Agnew was employed at the Dawson Creek location of Lake View Credit Union, while Friesen is an ice hockey player for the Dawson Creek Canucks, a Junior “B” club in British Columbia.
The company posted on Facebook, saying, “Everyone at Lake View Credit Union is saddened by the death of our friend and coworker Kiara Agnew.” “We send our love and prayers to everyone else impacted by this.”
Agnew had been thinking about the vacation to Mexico ever since Christmas. He’d spent a year and a half with Friesen.
