Erica Ash, an actress and comedian, passed away following a protracted fight with cancer. Her age was forty-six.
During her career, Erica performed in several sketch comedy shows. She later starred in the series Survivor’s Remorse on Starz.
Erica appeared on television on MADtv’s “The Big Gay Sketch Show,” “In Contempt,” and the BET spoof “Real Husbands of Hollywood.”
She has also appeared in films including We Have a Ghost, Scary Movie V, and Outlaw Johnny Black.
Erica’s family officially announced her death following a protracted fight with cancer.
“Erica was an amazing woman and a talented performer who touched many lives with her sharp wit, humor, and genuine zest for life,” her family said in a statement.
“She will live on in our hearts for eternity.”
The 53-year-old TV host and reality actress Loni Love disclosed Erica’s passing in a social media post on Monday.
Loni said, “Sad to confirm my friend and fellow actress Erica Ashe’s passing.”
“Erica was witty and intelligent. She put her all into everything she did, whether it was MadTV or Survivor’s Remorse.
She is no longer there; she was there all the time before. I sincerely apologize for her family’s loss.
BET also announced the news in an Instagram tribute to Erica.
It said, “We send our love and deepest condolences to her parents, siblings, friends, and family.”
“Sky high, Queen.”
DISCUSSING STORIES
On social media, both well-known individuals and others who knew the late actress have been paying respect to her.
When Erica passed away, Niecy Nash, 54, posted a picture of herself and Erica on Instagram with the caption, “Rest Well Pretty Girl [dove] [heart] @theericaash.”
“I’m going to make you my #wcw,” was the final text you sent me. Then we both laughed heartily. We shall miss having you here! We laughed so hard at your jokes. “Sending my deepest condolences to your family and loved ones,” she added.
Erica also received a photo from Shannon Mack, the host of the YouTube talk show Pedis & Mimosas, during her appearance on the program.
It was not the news I wanted to hear when I received the call at 8:30 this morning informing me that @theericaash had passed away. That lady was just forty-six years old! Shannon wrote the composition.
Erica was endearing, humorous, and kind-hearted. “I can’t believe she’s not with us anymore” was said after that.
“I’m appreciative that she could use my platform! I’m excited for you guys to see what she dropped—it’s really awesome.
Shannon also mentioned that Erica would be a guest on the new season’s opening episode.
Erica received numerous pictures and videos from her co-star in “In Contempt,” Tobias Truvillion, both on and off screen.
“A righteous soul. An abundance of originality. Kindly convey your kind wishes to her family. Tobias said, “Erica made my life better.”
She had very high standards for both herself and other people. We adore you, Erica, dear. We are grateful that you are such a masterpiece. Admit to her that you adore her.
NEVER GOING AWAY
Two weeks ago, Erica saw “Beauty Amongst Thorns,” an artwork by artist J. Christopher, at a pop-up show in Los Angeles, California.
Along with Kathy Bates, Sophia Bush, and Gina Rodriguez, she attended the wedding of actress Skye Marshall and actor Edwin Hodge in early July.
Erica attended her final red carpet event, the Golden Globes Foundation Dinner, at the end of January, sporting a gold blazer and a lace bodysuit.
The Florida woman last updated her Instagram account around that time.
Following the social media post on Monday, supporters read it and sent condolences in the comments section.
Someone said, “This really saddens me.”
RIP, kind and talented actress. “Gone too soon!” exclaimed a second person.
Oh, you are loved by us! “Thank you for giving us your gifts,” stated another person.
