A 96-year-old lady who hadn’t taken a plane ride in 15 years was seated in the row behind me on my yesterday journey from San Diego to Nashville. She was afraid of traveling, so she didn’t want to spend her birthday seeing her relatives in Kansas City.
During takeoff, she asked for this man’s hand and gave him another embrace when there was turbulence. To be more precise, this guy willingly held her hand, let her to cling onto him, talked to her and calmed her down by explaining everything that was going on, all while being the stranger that was there for her.
Throughout the whole flight, he understood just how to assist. He watched her cautiously make her way down the aisle while helping her rise up to use the toilet.
He assisted her with getting off the plane, holding her suitcase, getting into the wheelchair, and staying with her until she found her daughter, who had become separated from her. She phoned her sister.
She wanted to give him her flight pretzels since she was so appreciative. I applaud you, sir, for having such a kind heart and showing empathy to a stranger. My entire week was made by this.
